Back in 2002, Paul and Sean opened the first Superloans store on High Street in Lower Hutt. The first store was small - only 250 square metres - and it was dedicated to Pawn Broking. Common items pawned at the time were DVD players and Playstation 2’s, which tells you a whole lot about how long ago 2002 really was! The uniforms were out of control - three-quarter pants and muscle tops... good thing that’s changed!
The guys learned early on that great customer relationships mean everything to them and to the business, and that really understanding their clients would be the key to making a go of it. Both of them always had a desire to find solutions for customers needs and even though pawn loans were meeting some of those needs, there was still something missing.
So they expanded
Our Superloans team quickly expanded to three Wellington locations over the following 18 months and since we took those first steps, we haven’t looked back. After officially launching the Superloans brand in 2009, we introduced the Express Loan, providing short-term cash loans.
As mobile technology became more and more impressive, we developed a market leading app that gives customers the power to see their full profile and loan details anytime of the day or night. The Super Score rewards programme was also rolled out, proving yet again that our customers are at the heart of our developments and growth.
Fast forward to now, with new stores in the Hawkes Bay and refurbished premises in the Wellington region, our team are seeing how their drive to continually exceed their customer expectations is being taken up by more kiwis in more places.
