Need a cash loan fast?

Looking for a pawn shop? Whether you need cash for a sudden bill, a special surprise for a loved one, or maybe just simply to get by until your next payday, then a Superloans Pawn Loan could be exactly what you need. What’s more, if it’s your first time borrowing from us, the loan is free!

How does a Pawn Loan work?

Pawn loans are a form of secured personal loan - this means you leave something behind with us, and we lend you cash against that item. You can pay back that loan at any point, as long as it's within three months from the date you took the cash. If you pay back the loan within three months, you get your item back, just as it was.

Quick and simple

There are no establishment or administration fees, and the fee to pawn the item is a fixed amount per month. Simple! That means you won't get charged increasing amounts of interest each month, like you would with a cash loan from a bank.

You're in control

We understand that secured loans can be intimidating, especially when the item you choose as collateral is important to you.

Here at Superloans, you’re in complete control of the whole process. The terms generally boil down to a simple concept: the sooner you pay the loan back, the less interest you pay, and the sooner you’ll have your item back! Our team will outline all the finer details before you make an application, so you know exactly what you are signing up for.

Quick turnaround

Because the loan is secured against an item you own, we can go through the approval process in a snap.

Cash in your hand

Get sorted quickly with cash in your hand. No need to wait for a payment to clear in your bank account.

Pay back the loan at anytime before the date we agree and you'll get your item back. Plus, there’s no penalty for paying your pawn loan back early! The sooner you pay it back, the less you pay.

How much can you borrow?

This will depend on the value of the item you are bringing in, and we'll evaluate that at the time, but here's some general guides to help give you and idea of what your item might be worth.

Representative Pawn Loan example
A $200 pawn loan with a redemption fee of 20.0% per 28 days, repaid on day 28 will have a total payable of $240.

Loans only suitable for short-term needs. Not suitable for long-term or regular borrowing

What things can you use as security?

Here is an idea of the most common things that are used for security on a Pawn Loan with us. If you have something that's not on the list, please contact us to find out if we'll accept it.

Common FAQs

Can I apply if I live outside the Wellington or Hawkes Bay area?

No sorry. At the moment, we can only process loans for customers in the Wellington, Kapiti, Wairarapa, Napier, Hastings, Wairoa, and Central Hawkes Bay regions.

Do you loan to beneficiaries?

We sure do. Everyone is treated the same at Superloans.

Can I get a loan with bad credit?

Yes you can! A lot of our customers had a bad credit score to start with. We look at your current ability to repay a loan, not what happened in the past and we repair your credit score with Superscore

Can I top up my Express Loan?

You sure can. The My Superloans App tells you when a top-up is available and how much you can walk out with if approved.

How much can I borrow?

The amount you can borrow depends on a number of factors. However, most new customers take advantage of our Free Loan up to $500. Check our Calculator to see how much cash you could walk out with.

I've paid back my loan. Can I get another one?

You sure can, and since you're an existing customer, your details are retained in our system, making the process even easier. Just pop into a branch to get your next loan sorted.

I'm self-employed. Can I get a loan?

A Pawn Loan is perfect if you are self-employed. However, you may be approved for an Express Loan if you get a regular income, and meet the other criteria. Apply for a Free Loan to see if you qualify.

Do I need to bring ID each time I get a loan?

No, you don't. Once you've been approved as a Superloans customer and taken your first loan, all of your details are stored in our system.

How old do I need to be?

You must be 18 or over to obtain an Express or Pawn Loan

Can I have more than one loan at a time?

For an Express loan, the short answer is, it depends on the situation. You are welcome to apply and the credit team will discuss your options.

There is no limit on Pawn Loans, so if you aren't able to get a second Express Loan, you are welcome to get a Pawn Loan as well.

Free Loan FAQs

How much can I borrow?

For your first, free loan, you can borrow up to $500.

The amount you can borrow will be dependent on your income. Check our calculator to see how much cash you could walk out with.

If you need more than $500, you will need to apply for an Express Loan (Express Loans over $500 do not qualify for the first loan free offer), or you could pawn an item of high value.

Do you do credit checks?

A credit check is part of our application process, combined with other checks we complete using our own Responsible Lending Guidelines. However, we also take into account your current circumstances, not just your credit rating. Check out our Bad Credit loan page if you're concerned about your credit rating.

Can I repay my Free Loan early?

You sure can, and you won't be charged any penalty or fees for doing that. We encourage our customers to pay back their loans as fast as they can!

What happens if I miss a payment?

On the first dishonoured payment, we'll send you a text message alerting you to a missed payment. If you contact us immediately and make a manual payment, you won't incur any default fees.

If you don't reply to the text message, we'll continue to try to contact you by text message, phone, and email.

  • Day 1 – 2: Send you a text message alerting you to a missed payment asking you to contact us.
  • Day 3 – 4: Also attempt to contact you by phone and email.
  • Day 5: We'll extend your loan agreement for an additional pay period.

If we extend your loan term, you'll need to pay the interest for the additional pay period/s. Have a look at our Costs page to understand the fees, interest and charges for an extension and the dishonoured payment fee.

What happens if I stop payment of my free loan?

Our staff will attempt to contact you to discuss your situation and try to assist you in any way possible.

  • Week 1: Attempt to contact you by email, phone, and text.
  • Week 2: Attempt to contact you through your alternative contacts and work (if applicable).
  • Week 3: Field officer visit - sent to your home or place of work.
  • Week 4 onwards: Continue to attempt contact until the loan reaches 'under collection' status. This occurs when the interest and fees are equal to the original loan value. Once the loan is placed under collection, the debt is listed with a external debt collection agency.

Pawn Loans FAQs

What can I bring in for a pawn loan?

We accept all sorts of things. Check out the most common items here.

What if I have bad credit?

No worries! Since a pawn loan is made against an item of value that you own that we hold until repayment, we aren't concerned with your credit rating.

What's the maximum I can borrow?

It all depends on the condition, age and resale value of the item you're bringing in to pawn.

Can I have more than one Pawn Loan?

There's no limit to the number of pawn loans you can have at any one time.

Can I pay my Pawn Loan off?

You can, but you can only put a part payment towards the interest portion of the loan, the principal amount needs to be paid in a lump sum.

When I've repaid my Pawn Loan, can I come back for another Pawn Loan?

Absolutely. You can bring an item in for a pawn loan at any time. If you bring back an item you've pawned previously, the loan will only take a few minutes.

Will my item be sold if I don’t repay my loan?

Yes, but this is the last resort. We'll contact you three times over a 3-month period and, but if we don't hear back from you, we’ll auction the item to recover our costs.

Are my goods safe while held in your branches?

Absolutely. We take good care of your items, and we take security seriously. Your goods are safe here.

Can I bring in more than one item?

Absolutely. That's a good option as it gives you and us more flexibility over loan amounts as one item may be a higher value than the others, or, we can do multiple loans for you at once.

What happens if I can't pay to redeem my item but still want to get it back?

No problem. You can extend the contract for a month by paying the interest for that month by simply jumping on the My Superloans app, and following the instructions or come into the store and one of our staff will help you out.
